Virtual Training
Virtual Training Materials – These materials have been adapted from the corresponding classroom course materials that you will also find on our website. However, we have changed the structure and content so that it better suits delivery in a virtual environment such as a video conference call. This means no major alteration to the content, but the structure and method of delivery will have altered.
Intended for:
These developing resilience virtual training course materials are suitable for all employees. Resilience is the ability to adapt to difficulties and to come back from pitfalls and tough situations. In the workplace, those that are able to recover from problems are able to reduce the effect that these challenges have on their emotional well-being. Where we can take care of our mental health and focus on developing resilience, we can improve our general health and state of mind.
Training course contents:
Help develop the resilience of your employees and ensure they can overcome workplace challenges
Resilience is how we bounce back from set backs and challenges without letting them affect our mental health and well-being. Much as we can exercise our body, we can also exercise the elements of our mind that help us overcome difficulties that we face in our day to day life and in the workplace. This means relying on various sources of support and personal skills. This might include developing our thinking skills, focusing on the rationality of a situation, taking care of our physical, mental and emotional well-being and improving the relationship we have with those around us.

By developing our personal resilience, we are giving ourselves the tools we need to ensure we perform at an effective level and overcome challenges as they occur. This is particularly important in the workplace, where we may feel that we have less control over the situations that we face. A person with strong resilience with have a positive approach to tasks and can avoid being overwhelmed by challenges that they come across. Personal well-being has never been more important and it’s understandable that employees would seek support from their employer in this area.
Fortunately, personal resilience is an achievable target and we all have the ability to tap into the tools and techniques that can help support us. These training course materials aim to help participants explore the methodologies that will help them to develop resilience.
The main content of the virtual training course materials…
Module One
Introduction and Objectives – Exploring the meaning of resilience in the workplace while giving participants an opportunity to highlight any initial questions or concerns. Setting personal goals for the training session.
Why is Resilience Important? – Understanding what makes up a resilient person and why it is an important factor for our health. Identifying how the participants currently cope with workplace challenges and what can be done to improve how they manage these.
Positive Vs. Negative Thinking – A look at how negative feelings can get the better of people through a case study. How this can further impact a persons approach to their work and how negative thoughts can grow and become an issue. Participants are asked to fill in a questionnaire to understanding their own thinking patterns.
Module two
The Three Dimensions – Reviewing the three key dimensions, which are: Permanence, Pervasiveness and Personalisation and the individual’s ability to ‘bounce-back’. This allows participants to explore personal improvement areas and what can be done to overcome their own areas of weakness.
Overcoming Negative Thinking – The ABC Technique – This includes the process of: Adversity, Beliefs and Consequences that are used to offset negative thinking and move it into a positive area.
The Ladder of Inference – We build our world view based on our past experiences and the beliefs that this creates in us. The Ladder of inference allows participants to alter their viewpoint by basing opinions on facts inherent to the situation. This will allow them to understand how the model works, but also apply it to their own situations.
Locus of Control – People tend to look at things from two perspectives. This could be internal (things happen to them) or external (things happen because of them). This section allows participants to understand their own perspective and challenges them to consider the effect this might have on their own feelings. The aim is to help the learners become more aware of how to focus on an internal locus of control.
Module three
Levels of Resilience – Here participants are encouraged to consider resilience from the perspective of not only their (individual) perspective, but also that of the organisation and of their own team. They should explore where these aspects merge and if there are any commonalities.
The Resilience Grid – The resilience grid helps develop are more resilient workforce by focusing on the needs of individuals and organisations. It looks at what the important factors are and what the organisation or the individual can do to improve their focus on resilience with this in mind.
Module four
Developing Emotional Intelligence – Exploring the relationship between emotional intelligence and resilience and understanding how an emotionally intelligent mindset can help us to understand ourselves and adapt our behaviours to achieve better outcomes for situations that might otherwise affect our well-being.
Helping Others to Become Resilient – A chance to identify how we can use emotional intelligence techniques to help support others develop their own emotional intelligence and personal resilience.
