Intended for:
This free energiser is useful to help participants embed learning and ensure they reinforce the ideas from the training when they return to the workplace.
Training course contents:
You can download a set of instructions for the training energiser, ‘It’s a Date!’ from the link at the bottom of this page, or you can follow the notes below.
Resources – a calendar (preferably the calendar participants will have on their mobile phones)
At the end of a training course or workshop, ask the participants to get their calendar out and if they have one on their mobile phone then this is best one to use (it might be wise to have some pre-prepared printed calendars, which you can make up from MS Word templates in case participants do not have calendars).
Ask participants to pick out four key dates over the next month.
Their task is to consider four key learning points from the training course and to add these into their diaries over the four dates they chose.
The reason they have entered the learning points on each of these dates is that they are setting themselves a reminder to carry out a task that will help them reinforce that learning point on that day.
If they are entering the calendar task on their mobile phones then ask them to also set an audio and visual reminder to do the task. Emphasise how important it is for participants to carry out the task on the set day and ensure they all commit to doing them.
You can summarise by questioning the participants on what they are actually going to do and when.
Objectives:
This energiser is particularly useful in training courses where you want to provide participants with the opportunity to implement key actions and ensure they review learning points following training. It’s a very useful energiser that is suitable to use at the end of any training course.
