Focus groups are where a group of people are selected according to specified criteria. They are interviewed together to discuss a particular subject. For example, employees may be drawn from different parts of the business to find out how well a new appraisal system is working. They are called focus groups because they focus on a particular issue or topic.
The purpose of the Leading Focus Groups training bubble is help people to run effective focus groups. It is particularly aimed at people who do not have to run focus groups regularly and have little or no experience.
For example, an internal consultant might run a focus group to evaluate a new system or perhaps a member of the Human Resources team might want opinions from a group of employees about the appraisal system. Focus groups are also widely used by people running projects and this training session would benefit them.
