Intended for:
This free icebreaker is useful for getting participants to open up about their feelings and discuss their thoughts about the training and what how they perceive it. The icebreaker is also a light-hearted way of introducing participants.
We recently used this icebreaker during an assertiveness training course to encourage participants to open up and communicate effectively.
Training course contents:
A set of instructions for the icebreaker, ‘Picture Me’ can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page, or you can follow the notes below.
Resources Needed – cut out the pictures provided below or create your own. It is best if you can print these onto card. Of course you can supply your own pictures and they don’t have to be animals, I just felt that way inclined today!
Instructions – place your pictures on a table in the room or pinned up on a board and ask participants to each select a picture that best represents their feelings and/or other significant issues regarding the training topic.
As each person introduces themselves, ask them to explain their thoughts behind why they chose that particular picture and review their comments in turn. Where you can, identify common issues that occur within the group and discuss them.
Objectives:
This icebreaker provides a fun method of getting participants to open up about their feelings early on in a training event.
