Intended for:
This energiser is useful to open up a session on strategic planning or any other type of planning event and will help to sort their thoughts without them even realising it!
Training course contents:

Resources Needed:
Two flipcharts and some pens. Instructions Place two flipcharts at the front of the room. Write, ‘Current state’ on one and ‘Future state’ on the other. Tell the participants that they are going to be converting the basement of their home and have to plan how this will work. Their basement is currently full of old junk, damp and uninhabitable. They want to arrange it so that it is suitable for a Home Cinema room. Ask them to consider all the things about the current state that are important and then all the things about the future state that they want.
Once they have done this, ask them to consider all the things that might need to happen to get them where they want to be.
Relate all this to strategic planning or whatever planning topic you have chosen and then reflect on the learning throughout the training.
Variation:
You can ask participants to consider planning for all sorts of things. For example; moving home, creating a farm, renovating a car etc.
Objectives:
This energiser helps participants to focus on planning activities and identify what is required to make successful plans. It provides a lighthearted approach, but still gets the message across.
