Leadership is constantly changing and in today’s environment we need to be much more aware of how we treat our people and their perception of us. Where it exists, unless we move away from a ‘command and control’ style of leadership, we will lose our people and struggle to compete in a changing world.
Where there is high uncertainty and low agreement, managers and supervisors will need positive leadership skills to avoid chaos.
As a Manager or Supervisor of a team of people it is important to be aware of how people and their expectations have changed over the years. No longer is a “Command and Control” approach either effective or desirable. In order to survive in an increasingly competitive world, we all need to adapt our management style.
Leadership and the way we look after our people in business has continued to be “different” over the last 10 – 20 years. We’ve had to learn to do things differently in order to survive.
Creating a list of themes associated with a changing leadership style, will form the next steps in doing away with a ‘command and control’ approach in favour of a flexible, adaptable leadership style.
