This online learning course cover key aspects of adult safeguarding including – what it is; who is at risk of harm; who might pose a risk; and where risks are more probable. It also identifies the legislation relating to safeguarding and explores different types of harm and how to recognise them.

The course concludes with a look at who is responsible for safeguarding, and the frameworks for implementing effective safeguarding measures.​

  • Explore who might be at risk of harm and individuals that might pose a safeguarding risk

Module 2 – Adult Safeguarding Legislation
  • Identify the different legislation for adult safeguarding, including the Care Act 2014 and equivalents
  • Establish your current understanding of legislation

Module 3 – Adult Safeguarding Issues
  • Explore the 10 different safeguarding issues highlighted by legislation
  • Deep dive into each of the issues to ensure understanding, highlighting physical, emotional and behavioural signs for each
  • Work through a case study to help embed learning
Module 4 – Who is Responsible for Adult Safeguarding?
  • Identify the specific responsibilities related to adult safeguarding
  • Review a case study to help establish who might need to take responsibility for a certain case
  • Explore wider safeguarding responsibilities and the context
  • Establishing the safeguarding issues that you might personally encounter
  • Work through a case study to help embed learning
Module 5 – How to Safeguard Adults
  • Review the six principles of safeguarding
  • Deep dive into knowledge checks for each principle to ensure understanding
  • Ensuring safeguarding in your organisation meets requirements
  • Using the ‘Three Rs of safeguarding’ framework to offer a practical, action-based approach to addressing safeguarding concerns
  • Work through a case study to help embed learning​
