Intended for:
Use this free training game as a method of allowing participants to highlight their fears and/or concerns regarding the training topic that you are discussing without feeling that they are being negative or pressurised to conform.
Training course contents:
A one page instruction sheet for the training game, ‘Secret Fears’ can be downloaded for free from the link at the bottom of this page, or you can follow the notes below.
Objective – to help participants raise their fears or concerns around issues without feeling pressurised or ‘negative’.
Tools – a box with a hole in the top and several small strips of paper.
Prior to a break, provide participants with one, two or three small strips of paper and ask them to write down their concerns or fears regarding the training topic that you are working on.
Tell them that you will leave the box with a hole in the top in the room and they should place the completed sheet/s of paper in the box during the break.
After the break, go around the group and ask a person in turn to take a sheet of paper from the box and read out the fear or concern. The person that took it out should also explain what their interpretation of that concern is and the thinking behind it.
After each fear is read out, hold a discussion where you debate the raised fear. Flipchart the fear and the possible solutions or highlighted points. Ensure the issue gets the attention it deserves and then move on.
Caution – as these fears may be quite emotive, it is recommended that you only use this exercise in an environment where you can ensure that feedback will be constructive and forward thinking.
Objectives:
This training game encourages participants to demonstrate their fears and concerns.
