Intended for:
Use this icebreaker as a fun way of demonstrating that often our actions are very predictable.
Training course contents:
You can download a free instruction sheet on how to run the icebreaker, ‘So Predictable’ from the link at the bottom of this page, or follow the instructions below.
Tools – pen and paper for each participant.
Instructions – explain to the participants that you are going to provide them with five questions and they should write down their answers as quickly as they can. Their answer should be the first thing that comes into their head without pondering. Then ask them the following questions in quick succession…
1. What is your favourite colour?
2. Name a piece of furniture.
3. Name a flower.
4. Pick a number from one to four.
5. Name an animal in a zoo.
Then write the following answers on a flipchart…
Red, Chair, Rose, Three, Lion.
Ask for a show of hands for each answer that is the same as yours. You will have a surprising number of the same answers.
Hold a general discussion about human behaviour and how our thoughts can often be quite predictable and ‘common’. What does this mean in the work environment?
Objectives:
This icebreaker demonstrates that human behaviour can often be quite predictable.
