Intended for:
This free icebreaker can be used to help break the ice in a fun and relaxed way at the beginning of a training session or meeting.
The icebreaker can be used during training where you want to highlight that working together as a team is important. It would work well with a Team Building Training Course.
This icebreaker can also be used as an energiser throughout a training course.
Training course contents:
A set of instructions for the icebreaker, ‘Stand Up’ can be downloaded for free from the link at the bottom of this page, or you can follow the notes below.
Prior to starting this icebreaker, the trainer should clearly explain the instructions to the group.
Ask participants to get into a circle with their backs facing the middle of the circle so that they are all looking out. They should then sit on the floor.
Next, ask participants to link their arms together and remain sat down.
The task for the participants is to all rise up together so that they are standing, but they cannot break the link in their arms.
The participants will find it very hard to get up at the same time unless they work together and it is this point that is important.
The icebreaker ends when they have achieved the task or the trainer calls a halt to the proceedings. The icebreaker should be seen as a fun activity that promotes working together as a team.
Objectives:
The icebreaker should be seen as a fun activity that promotes working together as a team.
