The Virtual Trainer

This training resource will be delivered immediately after checkout.
Duration: 1 Day

Intended for:

These ‘Virtual Trainer’ training course materials have been developed for participants that need to design and deliver any form of virtual learning event.  They might be brand new to the world of learning, and need to know how to get started facilitating virtually, or perhaps they are a seasoned learning and development professional, wanting to get the very best out of their virtual training events.

The training design is highly interactive and the material contains lots of practical tips and advice. Your participants will also have the opportunity to practice a virtual session to help develop their delivery style and ability to build learner engagement.

Training course contents:

The world of work is changing, and we now spend more time than ever working from home. We can embrace new technologies to meet, speak and engage with our work colleagues in exciting new ways.

With this in mind, it’s more important than ever that we embrace virtual learning to help our people develop and grow. We can use that same technology to run workshops, webinars and one to one coaching initiatives – and ensure we are always able to support our workforce with their learning needs. But how do we make sure our learners feel engaged, that they remain present and create a feeling as if they’re in the room with you as opposed to feeling as if they’re in yet another boring virtual meeting?

‘The Virtual Trainer’ workshop will give participants confidence as they explore all the attributes needed to be successful when training or coaching content virtually. It is highly experiential, exploring everything to make learning fun and engaging, whilst also giving participants a chance to ‘teach back’ and practice hosting virtually themselves in a psychologically safe environment.

Why is running this virtual trainer course a good idea?

Well, just imagine if your participants were better able to:

  • Understand the impact of great virtual learning, and can tailor their style to show what a good virtual trainer looks like
  • Design virtual learning suitable for all preference types, whilst bearing in mind experiential learning techniques
  • Successfully plan the different aspects of any virtual learning event, as well as identifying the ideal platform for the best learner and business outcome
  • Identify what facilitative skills we need to work on to be our very best when delivering virtually
  • Create engaging and interactive virtual learning events
  • Understand the different roles and responsibilities needed in virtual events to make it easy for the learner

The main content of the training course materials…

What does good look like? – A deep dive into what a good virtual training session looks like, as well as what skills a good virtual trainer possesses and how this differs from being in a ‘face to face’ environment.

An overview of effective learning  – An exploration of both learning modes coupled with a high-level look at the KOLB learning cycle – why we need to consider this when training virtually, and how we might bring both to life with the virtual tools we’re already aware of.

Setting yourself up for success – What exactly comes into play when we are preparing to present virtually? This includes tech set up, the environment you are in and how to prepare yourself. As part of this, this section looks at what type of virtual platform would be more beneficial dependent on scope (Virtual workshop vs Webinar).

How do I show up? – Exploring what we need to think about in terms of our own facilitation style when presenting virtually, and how we can maintain engagement throughout – what do we need to do and how is it different to training face to face?

Designing a virtual workshop – Linking to the above section, a chance to explore exactly how we can create engaging content through the use of different types of applications, as well as other top tips to get the best out of our time.

Roles and responsibilities – An exploration into the two main roles we need to undertake when training virtually – the facilitator and the moderator. What is the difference between a facilitator and a moderator? What are the responsibilities for each of these? When and why do we need both? How do both roles work together?

Virtual practice – The final part of the day is to put it all together and practice the art of virtual facilitation in a safe environment.

Action Planning – Applying the learning to ensure success.

As with all Trainer Bubble training course materials, this session is interactive and engaging with plenty of activities and exercises throughout.

At the end of this ‘Virtual Trainer’ training course, your participants will be able to:

  • Identify what good looks like when it comes to engaging virtual learning
  • Explore the different learning styles our groups may have, and look at ways we can adapt our learning to meet these virtually
  • Plan how we can have successful learning interventions through the use of different technologies, considering the environment we’re in as well as what type of virtual initiative is the most suitable for that audience
  • Explore how we should ‘show up’ and what we need to think about in terms of our own training style when facilitating virtually
  • Create engaging virtual learning interventions, using different tools at our disposal
  • Understand the different roles needed when delivering a virtual intervention, and how these roles work together
  • Practice a small piece of your own learning content for feedback (and sign off) to build upon the skills you have learnt from this workshop
