Intended for:
This free energiser is useful to help participants embed learning and also develop team working skills. It can also be used as a bit of fun or as a method of breaking up training and refocusing participants.
You can also run a variation of this energiser for negotiation skills training.
Training course contents:
A set of instructions for the energiser, ‘The Word’ can be downloaded for free from the link at the bottom of this page, or you can follow the notes below.
Objective – this energiser is useful to help participants embed learning and also develop team working skills. It can also be used as a bit of fun or as a method of breaking up training and refocusing participants.
Resources – a set of cards made up with one letter of the alphabet on each card (we have provided a template with the pack available for free at the bottom of this page). It is useful to have duplicates of the letters for each team.
Instructions – place participants into teams and divide the letter cards out between the teams (ensure each team has a good collection of letters to be able to form words from).
Explain to participants that their task is to create as many words as possible from the letters they have at their disposal (it can be useful to explain that the words must relate to the training course learning points in some way).
Advise them that you will be giving them 15 minutes to create as many words as possible and the team with the most words at the end will win a prize.
Stop the teams after 15 minutes and review how many words they each have created. Throw out any words that do not relate to the topic for any reason.
Variation – you can run a variation of this energiser for negotiation skills training courses whereby the participants must negotiate with other teams for more letters.
Objectives:
This energiser is useful during any training course where you want to reinforce learning and embed the key learning points.
