This free training game helps participants practice and review leadership skills such as; time management, delegation, problem solving, decision making and communication.
A set of instructions for the training game, ‘TV Times’ can be downloaded for free from the link at the bottom of this page, or you can follow the notes below.
Resources – several copies of different tv guides or tv sections of newspapers, glue, flipchart paper, scissors and pens.
Place participants into groups of four or five (this number works best, but you can have more or less).
Explain to participants that they have 30 minutes to complete the task (the rest of the time for this training game will be spent reviewing the task).
Their task is to complete a tv schedule for a whole days programming on a tv channel (morning through to night).
They should make up the programming schedule from the tv guides they have been provided with. They will plan this out and use the glue to stick the schedule on the flipchart paper.
Participants will be required to explain why they have chosen the programmes that they have and the team with the best schedule and programme logic will win (as decided by the trainer).
Review – this training game by discussing team dynamics, how the work was divided out, who became ‘leader’ if anyone, what was the criteria they worked to, was everyone involved, what worked, what didn’t work etc.
This training game provides participants with an opportunity to practice communication and leadership skills.
